One of the most common questions about GREEN×EXPO 2027 is: "Where should I stay?"
The venue is located at the former Kami-Seya Communications Facility site — a mostly residential area with very few large hotels nearby. That means the best strategy is to stay close to one of the shuttle bus stations and travel to the venue from there.
This will actually be my first time staying overnight for an expo trip. With the Kansai Expo, I was able to commute from home in Osaka, so accommodation wasn't a factor. This time, hotel costs are part of the planning — and I'd recommend you take it just as seriously. This guide breaks down 6 recommended areas based on what kind of trip you're planning.

| Want sightseeing + harbor views | C. Minato Mirai / Sakuragi-cho |

3 Tips to Avoid Hotel Mistakes for the Expo
- Stay near a shuttle bus station (Seya / Mitsukyo / Minami-Machida / Toka-ichiba) — this is the basic strategy
- Book early (Yokohama hotels fill up fast during Golden Week and summer holidays)
- Balance travel time and price if you're combining the expo with sightseeing
"I'll book later" is risky. Once your dates are set, lock in the hotel at the same time you buy expo tickets.
First: Know the 4 Shuttle Bus Stations
No matter which area you stay in, you'll need to take a shuttle bus to reach the venue. Buses run from these 4 stations:
| Station | Line | How to Get to Venue | Travel Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seya Station | Sotetsu Line | Shuttle bus / walking | Bus ~15 min / Walk ~30–40 min |
| Mitsukyo Station | Sotetsu Line | Shuttle bus | ~15 min |
| Minami-Machida Grandberry Park Station | Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line | Shuttle bus | ~15 min |
| Toka-ichiba Station | JR Yokohama Line | Shuttle bus | ~20 min |
Shuttle bus reservations may be required, so check the official website before your visit.
6 Recommended Areas
A. Around Shin-Yokohama Station — Best for Long-Distance / Shinkansen Travelers
Shin-Yokohama is where the Shinkansen (bullet train) stops, making it the most convenient base if you're coming from far away — Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and beyond. There are many large hotels around the station, so finding availability is usually easier here than in other areas.
How to get to the venue: JR Yokohama Line → Toka-ichiba Station (~10 min) → shuttle bus. Total travel time about 30–40 minutes (excluding wait time).
Example hotels (as of May 2026)
- Shin-Yokohama Grace Hotel (1-min walk from station)
- Shin-Yokohama Fujiview Hotel Spa & Residence (3-min walk, with natural hot springs from 1500m underground)
- Shin-Yokohama Prince Hotel
- Hotel Associa Shin-Yokohama
- Hotel Livemax Shin-Yokohama (opened 2020, budget-friendly)

B. Yokohama Station Area — Balanced Access + City Convenience
Yokohama Station has hotels split between the West Exit (Takashimaya, Joinus, More's) and the East Exit (Bay Quarter, Porta). Excellent connections in every direction — airport limousine buses, Shinkansen (via Shin-Yokohama on the Sotetsu Line), and major commuter routes.
How to get to the venue: Sotetsu Line (express or limited express) from Yokohama Station → Seya or Mitsukyo Station (~20 min) → shuttle bus. Total travel time about 40–50 minutes.
Example hotels (as of May 2026)
West Exit side:
- Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers (directly connected to West Exit, upscale)
- Yokohama Excel Hotel Tokyu (West Exit)
- Hotel Livemax Yokohama Station West

Tips for Booking
Book early — seriously. During Golden Week (late April to early May) and the summer school holiday season, hotels across Yokohama fill up fast. Don't leave it for later. The safest approach is to book your hotel at the same time you buy your expo ticket.
Also, keep in mind that the venue is very large. If you choose to walk from Seya Station, it's about 30–40 minutes on foot — so make sure you wear comfortable shoes!
